Birth and baptismal certificate for Mary Ellen Ackerman, daughter of Jacob Ackerman and his wife Catharine, born the 11th day of October 1863 in the township of Conoy, Lancaster County, Pa. She was baptised by the Rev'd. J. Kaille, and her parents were her sponsors. The printed form is in Roman type, and the blanks have been filled in with a Fraktur hand. The certificate is within a decorative border that also has a printed verse and a Bible icon. Around the form are handcolored decorative elements: birds perched on twigs, angels holding lyres in one hand with a bird or wreath in the other outstretched arm; a wingless cherubim messenger is in the center at the head, flanked by framed verse.
